How to lose customers.
By Chrysler

1) Annouce 5000 SRT8 challengers will be up for sale and show only pictures of the spoiler, gas cap, grill and headlight, and exhaust
2) Reap in $5-20k over MSRP
3) Put money in a swimming pool and roll around in it
4) Leak info that maybe a few more will be available
5) Repeat steps 2 and 3
6) As sales have practically stopped at 9000, release that info that 10000 units will be produced
7) Repeat steps 2 and 3
8) Remember not to tell anyone that those buying cars over MSRP will have them on the road for 5 months until the 2009's come out
9) Realize that you have only catered only to the insane and those with tremendously deep pockets
10) Scratch head at why you are not in the Big 3 anymore
11) Repeat step 3 to comfort you

LOL

One this I always say is wrong is the markups, but its not the manufacturer thats doing it its the individual dealers.
When the new stang model came out or the gt500 there was markup all over the place, just took some good searching and the right timing to find a dealer that wouldn't mark em up.

Thats Hilarious. But thats how it goes.Anyone want a Shelby GT? Golf mill ford has 5-7 of them sitting on the lot.Only $55,000 sticker is 39,000.They just got a Bullitt in and its going for $46,000 window sticker is at 32,000.Dealers then wonder why nobody wants to buy a new car.In all my years of working for and dealing wtih dealerships this is the norm. The only honest dealer left that I know of is Victor Ford. Maybe we should sticky a list of honest dealerships and buy from them.

Steve good idea on posting a good reference of dlrs to use. As for victor ford, I dont know about their car sales side of things but there service department is crooked. First hand experience with them calling in claims to me and I send people out to inspect them and find that they are upselling or mis-reporting diagnois. Also they screwed my one friends who brought his turboed focus in..I can go on but you get the point. If anyone wants to go to a good honest Pontiac, Buick, GMC dlr, I recommend Marquartdt in Barrington, and to take it one step farther deal with the advisor Mike Hubbard.

Boostin TA I see what you are saying about Warranty claims. But that game has been going on for years. When I wrenched (ASE Certified Journeyman Tech)We always upsold more than the warranty company would cover for two reasons
1. Make money
2. Get customers their moneys worth.Example:Car needs a water pump so we sell a timing belt too because Im going in to the motor once.Plus you have to remember Dealerships now survive on Service and Parts, sales cost them money in this GREAT economy. My .02

Dealer mark-ups are unfair and the auto companies themselves should figure out a way to put a stop to it. I understand it's supply and demand but, get real!! Only people with money to burn (literally) will be paying over sticker...suckers.
